RUSHVILLE — The Rush County Schools Board of Trustees has named Robert C. Hadley to succeed Matt Vance as the principal at Rushville Consolidated High School.

Hadley will continue to serve as the assistant principal at RCHS for the remainder of the 2012-2013 school year and begin serving as principal in the 2013-2014 school year (effective July 1, 2013).

Hadley, the eldest son of John William and Sara Jane Hadley, was born in Lancaster, Ohio.

In 1978 his family moved to Indiana.

It is clear that Hadley values the high school experience, based on his own at Center Grove High School. It was there he excelled in high school wrestling and was named the “Johnson County Daily Journal All-County Wrestler of the Year” in 1986.

“Art in high school was of great importance to my future, too. A teacher by the name of Mr. Terry Riley (Art Department Head) recognized my talent. It was under his guidance that I earned six Gold Key awards (Scholastic Art Awards) and was named CGHS Outstanding Senior Artist in 1986. After college, I went on to impact students, like Mr. Riley impacted mine, in the roles of department head, art teacher, wrestling coach and golf coach.”

Hadley received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Indianapolis, his Master of Science in Education degree from Indiana University, and a Specialist in Education degree from Ball State University.

Prior to coming to RCHS he was an art teacher at Whiteland Community High School where he also chaired various NCA and PBA art curriculum committees.

Hadley was the head girls golf coach and assistant wrestling coach.

Since coming to Rushville Consolidated High School in 2004, he has served as an assistant principal.

In addition to those administrative responsibilities, he has served as the school safety specialist, held responsibility for formal teacher evaluations, attendance discipline, and has been the Special Education case conference designee.

Other responsibilities include the screening/interviewing of teaching and administrative candidates, Section 504 and RtI coordinator, expulsion hearing officer, grant coordinator for Title II Part A, and the contract negotiations team.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as the principal of Rushville Consolidated High School. Mr. Matt Vance has been an incredible mentor and it is my hope to maintain a direction that states without a doubt that ‘Excellence Is Our Expectation.’ My family lives in Rushville and is a part of this community and school system in every way. My wife [Jill] and I and our kids, Robbie, Hannah, Annie and Emily, have enjoyed becoming a part of this community. The best thing about living here are the people and the way they care about each other. They have much to be proud of and I look forward to being an integral part of Rushville Consolidated High School as we prepare tomorrow’s leaders.”
