In other action, Bridges made a motion to approve Ordinance 2013-17. Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Council agreed to have a budget discussion immediately after the next Council meeting.
Mayor Pavey’s report included asking for the council’s feedback on moving forward with Rails to Trails. The City can make a request for anything 4 ½ miles out of its jurisdiction and they Mayor seeks to continue those conversations.
Mayor Pavey also said he received a letter from IDEM revising the long term control plan deadlines which had been previously moved up on the waste water treatment facility improvements required by Federal mandate. The implementation date has been shifted to December 2022.
The Rushville Street Department is continuing work on a boat launch in the area of the Rushville Amphitheater. They also noted that heavy trash pick-up services have been very light.
With the help of Carole Yeend of Clean Green Rush, park director Danny Mathews was able to travel to Aurora and picked up a trailer full of pumpkins to give away on Halloween. A free Haunted Trail and Hayrides will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater.
The 12th annual Halloween Costume Parade will begin with sign-ups at 4 p.m, the parade at 5 p.m. and judging for all ages, including adults at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Riverside Park Amphitheater. In case of raid, meet at the Livestock Pavilion at the Rush County Fairgrounds.
Fire Chief Chuck Jenkins said the Board of Works gave him permission to move forward with a Mutual Aid Agreement with RMH.
The Conner Restaurant also received council approval to close a section of Third Street from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday for a carnival welcoming Sammy Terry Jr. Sheehan made a motion to permit the closing of the section of Third Street. Conner seconded the motion. Motion carried.
