Girl Scout registration night planned for Tuesday

Rushville Republican

---- — Rush County Girl Scouts are gearing up for the 2013-2014 membership year. Troops are now forming at all Rush County Schools.

The Rush County Service Unit is hosting a registration night from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Rushville Dairy Queen, 1821 N Main Street. Each girl that registers will receive a free treat courtesy of Dairy Queen.

Girl Scouts is the premier leadership organizations for girls and is open to any girl in grades Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Girl scouting helps girls discover themselves and their values, connect with others, and take action to make the world a better place. Everything centers on the girl: activities are girl-led providing the opportunity to learn by doing in a cooperative environment with caring adults.

Adult volunteers are critical to Girl Scout success. Adults can help in various ways: lead a troop, help organize events and activities or by sharing their skills/hobbies with girls.

In addition Dairy Queen is donating 10% of their sales from 4 p.m. to close on Tuesday to Rush County Girl Scouts. These proceeds will stay local and help defray the costs of activities for the girls.

For more information about the registration event or Girl Scout membership, contact Sherri Becker, membership development manager, at 855-GSCIN-4U, or sbecker@girlscoutsindiana.org
