RUSHVILLE — Wanting to start your own business?

Need a little help with the one you have?

That assistance is coming to Rushville Tuesday, March 26.

Scott Underwood, business consultant from the East Central Small Business Development Center, will be presenting information on the array of business services available at no charge.

The SBDC connects “entrepreneur hopefuls” with the educational, financial and mentoring resources they will need as they move forward with starting or expanding their own business. They provide entrepreneurs expert guidance and a comprehensive network of resources.

This information session will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. March 26 at the Rush County Chamber of Commerce office, 315 Main Street, Rushville.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this service to the residents of Rush County. After this first session, Scott will be coming to our office on a regularly scheduled basis to meet one-on-one with interested individuals,” Chamber director Sandy Fussner said.

This service is offered through a partnership with ECSBDC, the city and the local ECDC.

“The city of Rushville is very interested in the whole topic of entrepreneurship and encourages those who are thinking about starting a business to take full advantage of these services,” Rushville Mayor Mike Pavey said. “According to the SBA, 49 percent of businesses fail in the first five years. Our goal is to provide our entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn the best path to success.”

ECDC director John McCane reports that their organization is in the development stage of revitalizing their revolving loan program.

“Once we get this program up and running, we do know that a session with the SBDC will be a requirement before we approve any loan applications. We want to ensure that applicants have had the opportunity to acquire all the information they need to make good business decisions,” he said.

Anyone who has an interest is invited to attend this seminar. Registration is not required.
