RCHS Concert Band Spring Concert tonight

Jazz band performed last week to largest audiences yet

RUSHVILLE — RCHS Concert Band will hold their spring concert at 7:30 p.m. today in the Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free concert.

On April 25, the RCHS and BRMS jazz bands put on a Jazz Appreciation Month Concert under the direction of Eric Burgeson, to the largest audiences yet at this annual concert. The BRMS Jazz Band and Jazz Combo, as well as the RCHS Jazz Bands and Combo 1 and 2 are activities the director, students and families commit extra time to before and after school throughout the year in practices and performances.

The BRMS Jazz Band includes: Emily McMinn, Ashley Mohr, Kaelee Garriott, Cara Moore, Bradly Christmas, Jacob Kirchoff, Vanessa Fields, Michael Kontos, Brianna Saxon, Katina Boyd, Kirah Banks, Hayley Wesling, Katie Barnes, Grace Miller, Luke Hoeing, Taylor Aldworth, Karen Banks. The BRMS Combo includes: Brianna Saxon, Bradly Christmas, Karen Banks, Katie Barnes, Kirah Banks, Will Thoman, Ashley Mohr, Grace Miller and Taylor Aldworth.

RCHS Jazz Combo 1 includes: Hayley Schwier, L.J. Conrad, Dru Asbury, Alex Mays, Abby Starkey, Kera Fenimore and Trent McQueen. Jazz Combo 2 includes: Andrew Christmas, Devyn Case, Spencer Brown, Shelbie Hornaday, Sarah Street, Dru Asbury, Lindsay Ribble and Joe Tucker.

The RCHS Jazz Band includes: L.J. Conrad, Dru Asbury, Lindsay Ribble, Mason Johnson, Hayley Schwier, Alex Mays, Jacob “Frenchy” Richardson, Robbie Hadley, Kristin Clines, Robert Lopat, Devyn Case, Andrew Christmas, Spencer Brown, Laura Smith, Abby Starkey, Kera Fenimore, Allen Best and Joey Tucker.

A highlight of the show was a combined performance of “Blues By Five” composed by Garland/Burgeson, featuring improvised jazz solos from all bands.

Mr. Burgeson thanked his students for a great year of jazz, his seniors for all their hard work and dedication, and parents and administrators that support these students in their development and lives.
