INTAT to sponsor local Grand Prix

Rushville Republican

---- — As Rushville prepares for the inaugural Kart Grand Prix event on July 20 and 21, organizers announced that local auto parts manufacturer INTAT Precision, Inc. has sign on to be the event’s title sponsor.

INTAT Precision produces and supplies Toyota and other car makers with brake parts. They are a major employer in Rush County and are presently expanding their local facility.

“We are very happy to announce that INTAT Precision, Inc. will be the title sponsor for the Veteran’s Memorial Grand Prix. INTAT’s participation is a perfect partner for the Karting Grand Prix. Their involvement in the automotive industry makes for a great fit,” Rushville Mayor Mike Pavey said.

In addition to INTAT as the title sponsor, each amateur event and the competitive division will have an event sponsor. With INTAT on board we are focusing on firming and announcing the event sponsors.

“We have consciously involved ourselves in the community and an automotive event seemed to be a perfect fit. We are excited to see what evolves from this inaugural event!” Brad Rist, Vice-President of INTAT Precision, said.

It is the hope of the organizing committee that this event will take on aspects identifiable to only Rushville and Rush County. For example, the trophies that we be awarded are being custom-made by INTAT and will be uniquely identified as a plate brake assembly. When plated, the plate brake assemblies become a beautiful work of art.

According to Mayor Pavey, racing has been a large part of the history of Rush County; whether it is horse racing, auto racing or TQ midget racing. Pavey believes this racing history helps identify the community to many who live outside of Rush County.

The city will be hosting several events in connection to the inaugural INTAT Precision - Veteran’s Memorial Grand Prix.

On Friday, the band KIST will perform at the Riverside Park Amphitheater.

Saturday will see local/celebrity street racing, including a Mayor’s Race featuring mayors from around Indiana competing for the local title. On Saturday evening, the Rush County Fair Association is hosting a benefit midget race at the Rush County Fairgrounds.

Sunday afternoon, the official inaugural Veteran’s Memorial race will take place. It is the intent of the organizers that the concert, the grand prix and the midget races throughout the weekend will help the community to celebrate its racing heritage.

This event is a partnering of many local organizations including the following: City of Rushville, Rush County Fair Board, Rushville Chamber of Commerce, Heart of Rushville, Riverside Park Organizing Committee, Rush County School Corporation and, of course, INTAT.

“We have found that Rush County is great at hosting events and we think that the weekend of events will only go to further that fact,” added Sandy Fussner, director of the Rushville Chamber of Commerce.
