RUSHVILLE — A report of a single vehicle rollover accident was received at the Rush County Sheriff’s Department shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The call resulted in multiple departments responding the 1741 South CR 350W where they found a 2003 Ford Escape had rolled onto its top after leaving the county road.

Rush County deputy sheriff Josh Brinson said the SUV was driven by Amber D. Salas Resendiz, 23, of Shelbyville. Brinson said she was northbound on the rural road when, after cresting a small hill, she lost control of her vehicle.

“It appears that speed was a definite contributing factor to this accident,” Brinson said.

After cresting the hill, the SUV left the east side of the road. The driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to cross the center line and leave the road on the west side as it entered a steep side ditch. The pitch of the ditch caused the vehicle to roll.

Salas exited the vehicle.

Following treatment for minor injuries, the Shelbyville woman refused additional treatment and was released at the scene.

Responding to the scene were units from the Rushville Township Volunteer Fire Department, RCSD, RMH Ambulance and Davis Towing.
