RUSHVILLE — The Rush County Commissioners met April 22 and following a moment of silence for former county commissioner Dewight Sweet, the trio of Bruce Levi, Mark Bacon and Ken Masters were faced with a number of county-related matters.

County surveyor Marvin Rees said that the courthouse clock is again working but is still in need of additional work. According to Rees, the additional repairs are dependant on parts that have not yet been received.

County highway superintendent Jerry Sitton was next to have the floor and presented the county leaders with his annual report. According to Sitton, the report submitted was similar to the one submitted a year earlier.

The highway superintendent then turned his attention to a couple of road improvement projects.

The contract with INDOT was extended to 2014 regarding the Carthage Pike improvement project. Sitton then said that nearly all of the right-of-way required for the project has now been acquired, although permits for the Blue River area of road improvement are still being sought to complete the work to the Carthage town limits.
