RUSHVILLE — After 20 years, current organizers of the Rush County Bikers Toys for Tots effort made their final deliveries Monday evening.

The initial effort began in 1992 with organizers Mark Bowling, Kim Bo Smith and Donnie Frazier; they helped make roughly 20 local children’s Christmas a little brighter.

This year, nearly 175 children throughout the county received a personal visit from Santa and a number of his elves. Each child received gifts and in many cases a stocking loaded with a trinkets and candy.

Sadly, Monday’s event brought to a close the local Toys for Tots effort.

Current organizers Tim, Audie and Delbert Frazier and others decided to call it a wrap after 20 years.

It is hoped that another group of individuals or a local organization will step forward for 2013 and continue the project.

The trio of brothers also offered their thanks to everyone who financially or otherwise has supported the effort.

“We couldn’t begin to thank everyone. There have been many throughout the years, from those individuals who gave us $5 and said this if for Toys for Tots to the local businesses that have been there every year. A huge thank you goes out to them all,” Tim Frazier said.
