The Rush County Chamber of Commerce has announced plans for their annual dinner, which will be held Monday, March 25, in the 201 Building in downtown Rushville.
The keynote speaker at this year’s meeting will be US Attorney and Rushville native Joe Hogsett.
The event will start with a reception from 5:30 to 6 p.m., dinner from 6 to 7 p.m., and the Chamber annual meeting at 7 p.m.
Other highlights of the meeting will include announcement of the Chamber’s “Citizen of the Year” and the winners of the Chamber’s Student Leadership Awards.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to get their tickets as soon as possible.
“Since we’re holding our annual meeting in the 201 Building seating will be limited, so I want to encourage everyone to make their reservations early,” Chamber director Sandy Fussner said.
The cost per ticket is $25 per person for Chamber Partners and $30 per person for non-Partners.
Ticket reservations may be made by calling the Chamber office at 932-2880 or by stopping by the Chamber’s newly redecorated offices at 315 North Main Street. Tables that will seat eight people may also be reserved for $185.
Fussner also indicated she’s pleased with the evening’s featured speaker.
“We’re very pleased that Joe accepted out invitation to by our keynote speaker,” she said. “It’s always very nice to have someone as prominent as Joe come back home for an event like this.”
Hogsett graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1974.
He graduated from Indiana University in 1978 with a double major in history and political science.
In 1981, Joe graduated from he Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington and, thereafter, joined the law firm of Bingham, Summers, Welsh & Spilman (now Bingham Greenbaum Doll), where he specialized in federal civil rights legislation.
Subsequently, he obtained graduate degrees in English from Butler University in 1987, theological studies from the Christian Theological Seminary in 1999 and in history from Indiana University in 2007.
He was nominated to serve as United States Attorney in July, 2010 and was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate; Oct. 7, 2010, he was sworn in as the US Attorney.
“The Chamber annual meeting is one of the highlights of our year. It’s a time for us to review the accomplishments of the Chamber during the past year and to outline what we’re planning throughout the remainder of 2013,” Fussner said.
