If you would rather watch than wrestle, a hog, admission for spectators is $5 for adults, $2 for youth 6-12 and under 6 get in free.
Competition classes are - Girls Jr. 10-15 and Sr. 16 + years of age; Boys Jr. 10-15 and Sr. 16 + years of age; Coed 16 + years of age. Contestants under 18 years of age must have a signed release form. There is a one minute time limit. Dress for mud and shoes must be worn.
The Ring will be approximately a 20 foot circle. Teams must catch and place the hog on the barrel with bare hands in one (1) minute or less. No artificial catching devices are allowed and unnecessary cruelty will disqualify a team.
So how does this work? A committee will open the gate for a hog to jump into the arena. When all four legs of the hogs are in the mud, the starter will fire a gun. A string will be tied across the gate and teams enter the opposite side of the ring from the hog. At the sound of the gun, the teams will enter the ring. When the string is broken, the clock starts. When the hog is placed on the barrel and the team raises their arms straight up, the clock will stop. Teams must have the hog in the chute after each run or they will be disqualified.
For those who conquer the mud and mayhem, trophies will be awarded for first (1st) place. $200 will go to the winnners in the senior class and coed class with $100 to the junior class winners.
