MEDC golf outing a success

Milroy stays focused on the future

RUSHVILLE — The Milroy Economic Development Corporation 6th Annual Golf Outing was held Saturday at Antler Pointe Golf Course in Rushville with 24 teams participating. The event will bring in approximately $10,000 to help the southern Rush County community. Money raised at the event will be used for ongoing capital improvements in Milroy.

Event sponsors were Major Hospital, Jackman’s Animal Clinic, Milroy Shoes, State Farm Insurance, Hoosier Pallet, Wells Fargo Bank, Harcourt Industries, Superb Smiles - Dr. Jamie Morgan, Bunge North America East and Runnebohm Construction.

The winning team from Saturday’s MEDC annual golf outing, playing for Jackman’s Animal Clinic, were Marion Dalrymple, Janet Neimeyer, Tommy Neimeyer and Dr. Bob Jackman.

MEDC gives thanks to Corya Pork Farm for donating the pork for the outing lunches and Morgrain Partners for preparing it. They also thanked Pavey’s Grocery for donating soft drinks and water. KB Foods donated food for the outing and a number of community volunteers also help make this a very successful and fun-filled event benefiting the community.

MEDC efforts are lighting the way in Milroy. The 2012 outing raised approximately $8,000 for the Milroy Street Light Fund, bringing the southern Rush County community close to a goal of providing a permanent endowment for the light fund. In 2011, the community was able to realize a fundraising goal and worked with Rush County Schools to have playground equipment installed at the new Milroy Elementary School.

MEDC members are Dr. Bob Jackman, president; Anne Ewbank, vice president; Dr. Rob Jackman, treasurer; Laura Jessup, secretary; and members Abe Keim, Steven King, Steve Richards, Michelle Herbert, Nick White and Jeremy Morgan. Jean Ann Harcourt served as chair for the 2013 MEDC golf outing.

The community of Milroy annually comes together through this golf outing and in other activities to raise funds and support projects to make the town a better place to live.

The MEDC promotes the Milroy community saying, “Milroy offers a small town family lifestyle with great access to urban amenities. There’s plenty of room to grow in Milroy. Residents take pride in the fact that we are a close-knit community that works well and has fun together too. Township officials as well as the business community work together for the progress of the entire area. Prime land has been set aside for development. Educational and lifelong learning opportunities are readily available and valued here.”

All donations are tax deductible. MEDC is a 501c3, a non-profit organization. Their website is

The MEDC was formed in the early 1980s as a means to preserve the Milroy School and do everything possible to improve the quality of life in the small town, as well as increase business growth in the area.

The MEDC 7th Annual Golf Outing is tentatively scheduled for June 14, 2014.
