Heavy trash collection coming

---- — The Rushville Street Department has announced “Heavy Trash Pick Up” week.

North of the Flatrock River: Put heavy trash out the week of Sept. 15 to 22. Pick up will be Sept. 23 to 27.

South of the Flatrock River: Put heavy trash out the week of Sept. 22 to 29. Pick up will be Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.

In addition, the Tox-Away Center will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7. The Tox-Away Center is on Smiley Avenue next to the Rushville Animal Shelter.

Items excluded are tires, air-conditioners and refrigerators. Those items may be dropped off at the City Dump for a small fee.

The City dump will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 to Oct. 4 if you would like to dispose of your own heavy trash at no charge.

The Clean Green Rush Tox-Away Center at 225 S. Smiley Avenue is now open the first Saturday morning of each month from 8 a.m. to noon. The Tox-Away Center is a joint venture of the city of Rushville and Clean Green Rush established to avoid pollution by accepting toxic chemicals, oil-based paints (no latex paint), stains, solvents,pesticides, etc. from all Rush County residents.

They will also accept TVs, computers and other electronics, refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioners or any large appliances. For more information call 938-1342 or visit their website at www.CleanGreenRush.org.
