“This case came to fruition due to the individuals taking the victim’s disclosure seriously and alerting authorities,” Prosecutor Phil Caviness said. “It is important that when a child discloses information of a possible molestation to an adult, the adult take it seriously and notify law enforcement so an investigation can take place.”
“I have to praise the victim and her family in this case for fully participating in the investigation which led to this conviction,” Morgan added. “It isn’t easy for a child to come forward and give statements to law enforcement describing the types of sexual acts that a person did to them. Many times the child is scared or even embarrassed to talk about what happened to them, but we are fortunate in this community to have law enforcement personnel and other professionals who are trained to talk with children in these difficult circumstances.”
Morgan also thanked Gosser and Drake of the Rush County Sheriff’s Department as well as members of the Rush County Office of the Indiana Department of Child Services for their work in investigating the case.
Due to the age of the victim, the names of the victim and victim’s family will not be released.
