Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Carthage - Indiana Conservation Officers patrolling along Big Blue River in Rush County found a familiar face Sunday afternoon. Indiana Conservation Officer Ted Stine found Carl Wilson, 57, New Castle, IN fishing near the bridge on CR 800 North. Stine watched Wilson during the afternoon as he caught several smallmouth bass and knew that something wasn't right. When Stine confronted Wilson, he located 17 smallmouth bass that were not within the legal size limits. Wilson was also over the daily bag limit. Officer Stine seized all fishing equipment, and Wilson was placed under arrest for illegal possession of smallmouth bass. Further investigation revealed that Wilson had been cited previously for similar violations, and was also listed as a Habitual Traffic Violator. Officer Stine transported Wilson to the Rush County Jail where he was booked in for several fishing violations and for HTV.

Indiana Conservation Officers want to remind everyone that we have size and bag limits so that everyone can have an opportunity to enjoy our natural resources and so we can maintain a proper balance of fish in our waterways.
