The Carthage Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is excited to announce the establishment of the Carthage School Scholarship Fund. This designated scholarship endowment at the Rush County Community Foundation has been created upon the recent decision to close the Carthage Elementary School in an effort to continue the Carthage Schools legacy for generations to come.
The “Carthage School Scholarship Fund” was established to help a graduating high school senior who formerly attended Carthage Schools. Upon the last Carthage Schools graduating class, the recipient must be a Ripley Township resident. The selection will be based on the applicant attending a 2- or 4-year trade school, college or university, their financial need and community and high school involvement.
“On behalf of the Foundation and our Board of Directors I want to thank the Carthage PTO for establishing this scholarship,” Alisa Henderson, Foundation Executive Director, said. “I know that the closure of the Carthage Elementary School is difficult for many families in the Carthage community. I am honored that the Carthage PTO recognized the Rush County Community Foundation as a partner in ensuring the Carthage Schools legacy continues forever. In addition, this scholarship fund will forever assist Rush County students in achieving their educational goals.”
If you would like to make a donation to this Fund you may send your donation to the Rush County Community Foundation, 117 N Main St, Rushville, IN 46173 with a note included that you would like it added to the Carthage Schools Scholarship Fund.
