Voter Guide: County Council District 3

With the May 6 Primary just days away, the Rushville Republican staff asked candidates in contested races to answer some questions to help area voters in the selection process.

The following is in the race for County Council District 3.

Mark Angle: Republican

1. What do you feel are the responsibilities of this office?

The council’s main duty is the budgeting.

2.Why are you seeking this office?

I like being involved and have served on several boards. I want to be a part of the solution and keep Rush County going.

3. What challenges does this office face during the coming term?

The jail renovation or expansion is one. Economic development in general is another and finding funding due to the tax cuts. We need to find the money to continue the services we provide and every year that gets tougher.

4. Why should citizens vote for you?

I promise to be very involved, open and honest and to make the best decisions to benefit Rush County. I think we have to work well with the other offices and I feel I can do that.

Scott Barnes: Republican

1. What do you feel are the responsibilities of this office?

Maintaining Rushville’s financial stability while keeping the best interest of all Rush County citizens.

2. Why are you seeking this office?

I plan to bring ambition, vision, integrity, and energy to help Rush County grow and prosper. I feel it is critical to involve my generation in county government.

3. What challenges does this office face during the coming term?

Economic stability needs to be provided while maintaining a solid partnership between county and city governments.

4. Why should citizens vote for you?

The people of Rush County have always believed in me, and I believe that together we can do really great things.
