Jackman family to sponsor Milroy Alumni Scholarship

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — The 2013 Milroy Alumni Scholarship will be sponsored by the Jackman family: Robert and Karen Jackman and their family and Ann Jackman Brackett and her family.

The scholarship will be dedicated to the memory of Bob and Ann’s mother and father, Lois A. Jackman and Frank T. Jackman.

Frank Jackman graduated from Milroy in 1919 and Lois Anderson Jackman graduated from Milroy in 1922.

Mrs. Jackman was a long-time Milroy teacher, having taught social studies at MHS for 38 years. Her students respected her because she was a strict taskmaster who was fair and caring.

The Jackman family can boast of four subsequent generations who have attended Milroy School. Ann Jackman Brackett and Bob Jackman graduated from MHS in 1957 and 1961 respectively. Bob’s sons, Rob and Nathan, attended Milroy school, and their children are carrying on the tradition. Rob’s son Crosby, who is in 7th grade at BRMS, attended Milroy Elementary, and his sister Courtney and Nathan’s children Cameron and Emilee are currently attending Milroy Elementary.

The Milroy Alumni Scholarship is offered to an RCHS graduating senior who attended Milroy Elementary School.

Students who apply must have a 3.0 grade point average and proof of registration at a college or university.

Applications are available from RCHS Student Services.

Completed applications should be returned to the Student Services Office on or before April 22, 2013.
