---- — For the next two weeks the focus of stock car racing will be centered on central Indiana with big event scheduled at Anderson Speedway and Indianapolis.

Anderson Speedway is hosting this coming weekend two nights of late model action on the high-banked quarter-mile oval.

Action starts Friday at 7:30 p.m. with the CRA/JEGS All Star Tour drivers competing in a 100-lap feature and a 75-lap feature for the CRA Sportsman Late Models.

The highlight of the weekend will take Saturday with the running of the Stoops Freightliner Red Bud 300, also starting at 7:30 p.m.

A two-day ticket is available at the track for $30.

With $10,000 to the winner of the Red Bud 300 the race is attracting some of the top names from around the country.

Michigan driver Johnny VanDoorn, a three-time CRA Super Series champion, is eligible for the $100,000 bonus if he wins the Red Bud 300 and the Winchester 400. VanDoorn won the first leg of the JEGS Triple Crown earlier this year at Berlin Raceway.

VanDoorn said he isn’t thinking about the $100,000 potential bonus.

“If you think about the $100,000, it will mess up your mind,” he said. “I want to win the Red Bud, it’s one of the top five short track races in the country.”

Already among the entries for the race are former winners Scott Hantz, Steve Dorer and defending champion Ross Kenseth.

In 2010 and 2011 the Red Bud was voted the best finish in a short track race on the 51 Sports website. Hantz and Dorer scored last lap wins in both of those years.

Included on the entry list are Erik Jones, winner of the 2012 Snowball Derby, T.J. Reaid, Kyle Benjamin and Bubba Pollard. Drivers with ties to central Indiana on the entry list include Kenny Tweedy, Rick Turner, Joe Beaver and Eddie VanMeter.

For the JEGS All Star race, Cody Coughlin has won two of the last three races and Jason Atkinson is coming off a victory last weekend in the Sportsman Division.

Coughlin, Pollard, Jones and Tommy Cook will be looking to compete in the JEGS and Red Bud 300.

On July 26 the CRA Super Series and JEGS All Stars will be competing at Lucas Oil Raceway in twin 100-lap events. Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace and David Stremme are scheduled to compete in the super late model race.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be hosting sports car on the road course on that Friday followed by the Indiana 250 for the NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday and the Brickyard 400 for the Sprint Cup series on Sunday. LOR will be hosting the USAC Silver Crown series on Saturday.
