RUSHVILLE — A Stewart Seed box delivery truck rolled shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday on SR 3 north of Gings Road and reduced north and southbound traffic to a single lane for nearly 30 minutes.

The accident also caused minor injuries to the driver of the vehicle, Vincent W. Ernstes, 37, of Westport.

ISP Trooper Jeff Culley said Ernstes was northbound when, shortly after crossing Gings Road, his vehicle drifted off the right side of the highway and onto the soft shoulder on the east side of the road.

Ernstes attempted to regain control of the vehicle but was unable to do so.

“In his attempt to regain control of the vehicle he over-corrected his steering and the vehicle crossed the center line before leaving the road and rolling on the west side of SR 3,” Culley said.

Emergency units from the ISP, Rush County Sheriff’s Department and Raleigh responded to the scene.

Following treatment for what were described as minor injuries, Ernstes was transported to Rush Memorial Hospital as a precautionary measure. He was released a short time later.
