Over the holiday weekend I was able to enjoy three days, (somewhat) off work. Three day weekends are always a highlight for me and I am sure most of you will agree.
I went fishing to wrap up my Sunday evening. While sitting in the old John boat casting out a spin bait I thought to myself, “dang, this weekend flew by so fast.” Sure, I stayed busy and got several things done but I caught myself remembering so many people telling me when I was young that the older you get the faster it goes by. Savor the moments when you’re younger, you won’t ever get them back. I also recall laughing when someone told me that, thinking yeah, right. Then it hit me at once sitting in that boat, they were exactly right.
The more and more birthdays I have had have really started to fly by. The old folks were right, it will fly by and down the road it will be a flash before my eyes. The more and more I think about it the more and more it bothers me. Life is a flash. We think we have all the time in the world but little do we know; we don’t. I can look back just like it was yesterday, people telling me, more like warning me that your life will fly by before your very eyes. I wish I would have listened and really savored things more when I was younger. It’s a mistake that all of us make. Yes, I said all of us. Why? Because when we are young we are invincible, we don’t ever think we will get old. We think that life lasts forever; we have all the time in the world. Its only when we are an adult that we realize it and sometimes we are too late.
