INDOT schedules chip seals

GREENFIELD - The Indiana Department of Transportation is scheduling Greenfield Subdistrict maintenance crews for chip seal operations along three segments of State Road 44 during the month of August. Tentative starting dates are:

State Road 44—14.32 lane miles from the east limits of Rushville to Glenwood on Aug. 18

State Road 44—13.86 lane miles from 7.46 miles west of U.S. 52 to the west limits of Rushville on Aug. 19

State Road 44—18.4 lane miles between C.R. 325E and Homer on Aug. 20

• Tree County Players presents “The Wizard of Oz” at 7 p.m. June 19 and 20, 2014 and 2 p.m. June 21, 2014 in the Greensburg Jr. High School auditorium (505 E. Central Ave., Greensburg, IN 47240). FRIDAY (6/20)

• On the Rushville Public Library lot, the originial 1931 movie “Frankenstein” will be shown at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20. The outdoor (in the dark) event is free to the public and sponsored by the Rush County Historical Society and the Rushville Public Library. Bring lawn chairs, blankets or something to hide under. Popcorn and drinks available (donation encouraged).

SATURDAY (6/21)

• Alex’s 6th Annual Memorial Ride will take place June 21 with sign up from 10-12 at the Rushville Eagles, bikes will be leaving at noon. The cost is $15 per bike and $5 for an added rider. There will be a dinner, auction and entertainment. All proceeds and donations go to the Alex Workman Memorial Fund, an endowment set up o continually help autistic children in the area. • On Saturday, June 21, the Hope Spot trailer will be open from 9 a.m. to noon for families to obtain clothing in the St. Paul’s Methodist Church parking lot. In the event of rain, the education building will be open for clothing distribution. Hope Spot is a mission of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

• The 4th annual K-9 Open golf scramble will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course. Registration will be from 8 to 8:45 a.m. The purpose of the outing is to raise money for the city and county K-9 programs.Cost is $200 for team of four or $75 per person.

• In cooperation with the Rush County Food Pantry (RCCA), the Gleaners Mobile Food Bank will be bringing a truck load of food to the Main Street Christian Church parking lot, 615 N. Main St., Rushville, on the first Monday of each month for distribution to local residents.

The distribution will be made between 4 and 6 p.m. Residents will need to bring their own containers (sacks or boxes) to put their food into.

• Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.
