The Indiana Extension Homemakers Association has a friend named Zella Owens. Zella was a member of the Extension Homemakers for over 50 years and never forgot that part of the mission of this organization is volunteer community support.
Zella recently read that IEHA is partnering with the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization to provide knitted or crocheted shawls for donor families. Offering the shawl expresses compassion at a time when there are no words to say. Zella decided to donate shawls that she crochets. Working with the Friends Too Extension Homemaker Club Zella has sent six shawls to be forwarded to the IOPO “Threads of Compassion” program.
Zella celebrated her 100th birthday on Nov. 8. She lives in Milroy, close to one of her daughters. She is described as brilliant, gracious, a joy to be around and quite a conversationalist. She was a member of the Moscow Friendly Neighbors and the Modern Home Arts Extension Homemakers Clubs.
The IEHA mission statement has remained with her – to strengthen families through continuing education, leadership development, and volunteer community support.
Thank you Zella for your continued support.
