---- — For a number of years, the Rushville Elks Lodge has hosted a “Clothe-A-Child” fundraising event as a means to make the holiday season a little brighter for children of Rush County.

Children are selected based on their needs and from recommendations from the county school system or community service groups. During the month of December, the youngsters are taken shopping with an Elks Lodge member for a new set of clothes, from head to toe, and a toy of their choice.

Carol Jones, along with Rushville Elks Lodge Exulted Ruler Dale Jones and Candy Owens, is heading the local fundraising aspect of the event on what has become known as Monte Carlo Night.

The trio said that letters had been recently sent to individuals and businesses that have generously supported the Clothe-A- Child effort in the past and that they currently are putting the final touches on the Nov. 22 dinner and auction for donated items and services.

The one-day, dinner, Monte Carlo event and auction will be held at the local Elks Lodge, 223 East Third Street on Nov. 22, with dinner being served from 5 to 8 p.m. The Monte Carlo event and auction will follow.

For those in a position to make a donation or for additional information regarding the event, Jones can be contacted at the Elks at (765) 938- 1307.
