---- — Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, members of the local Fraternal Order of the Police (F.O.P.) will begin handing out coats to any Rush County youth in need of warm winter wear.

This year’s event will mark the 11th year a local “Coat’s for Kids” effort will be held locally. For a number of weeks, collection drop off points have been gathering new and gently worn coats in preparation for Saturday’s giveaway.

Organizer Rush County deputy Dave Sliger was quick to add that Dean’s Dry Cleaners of Shelbyville again this year stepped up and cleaned the article of clothing at no charge.

Deputy Sliger continued by saying that the coats will be given away Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the F.O.P. building, (located behind the Rushville Fire Department) in the 200 block of East Second Street.

“Last year we gave away nearly 100 coats at no charge to any child in need,” the deputy said.

For additional information regarding the local “Coats for Kids effort, Sliger can be contacted at (765) 932-2931.
