---- — The local Relay for Life committee recently announced that the kick-off for the 2014 event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., Nov. 2, at the Rushville City Council Chambers, located at 270 West 15th Street.
It is asked that anyone wishing to be a team captain should attend the event. Team captains meet monthly to discuss plans for what has become an annual event. The theme for the 2014 Relay is “Hats Off to Hope.”
Teams are sought and organizers hope to build on the 2013’s 24-hour event momentum.
Rush County is a part of the Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society and the 2014 goal will be announced in January. Annually, Relay events are held coast to coast as a means to raise needed funding for cancer research and Rush County has been an active part of that effort for the past 12 years.
