Associated Press

CONNERSVILLE — Authorities say a 2-year-old girl died in a fire at her eastern Indiana home as her parents and sibling escaped.

Connersville Fire Chief Troy Tipton tells WTHR-TV that the girl was found dead from the fire that broke out Tuesday evening in the city about 50 miles east of Indianapolis.

WISH-TV reports police said the girl's parents were in the basement of the home when they smelled smoke. The parents quickly grabbed their 4-year-old child and got out of the house.

The fire's cause wasn't immediately determined.
