A natural gas leak occurred Friday evening in a field near CR 600N and SR 3.
According to county EMA Director Chuck Kemker, the line was compromised during the process of placing drainage lines in the field.
“The break caused natural gas to spew from the pipe for some time,” Kemker said.
He continued by saying that as a precautionary measure, fire personnel from Raleigh kept a watchful eye on the area until the line was sealed Sunday.
Friday evening, city officials were notified of the damage to a 10 inch Vectren natural line.
“All city and county emergency service were notified and personnel from Raleigh’s fire department and the county EMA remained at the scene overnight,” Kemker said.
He continued by saying that three residences were affected by the damaged line and by Monday morning, gas had been restored to the residences.
