Rushville Public Library announces RushFest plans

RushFest will take place this Saturday, Sept. 21, and the Rushville Public Library will be participating in the festivities. If ever there was a time to visit the library, RushFest is it. You may even win a 32-inch LED television!

First, look for the Rushville Public Library in the RushFest parade, which begins at 10 a.m. Volunteers will be handing out lovely bookmarks and candy to spectators along the way.

After the parade, be sure to visit the library as you are strolling through the downtown area. RPL will have fresh popped popcorn in front of the library and cool drinks (water, iced tea) in the meeting room inside.

From noon until 2 p.m., people of all ages can participate in the Library Quest scavenger hunt. Pick up your passport and first clue at the popcorn popper in front of the library. Complete the quest and receive a special token gift. Those who complete the quest also get to put their name in for a drawing to win a 32-inch LED television courtesy of Curtis Brothers and other donors!

The Library Quest scavenger hunt is for all ages, but it is recommended that children under 10 have an older helper since some of the clues may be difficult.

Even if you would rather not participate in the scavenger hunt, organizers are hopeful you will stop by the Rushville Public Library during RushFest. The library has been called “the gem” of Rushville’s downtown and “the most beautiful library in the state of Indiana.” Come and see why!

Rushville Public Library will also have a presence at the Pink Droyd concert Saturday evening. The library will be making and selling s’mores, two for $1. Proceeds from the sales go to our library’s building improvement fund. If you are going to attend the Pink Droyd concert, you are encouraged to stop by and purchase something gooey, warm, and sweet from the library.

To learn more about the Rushville Public Library and its collections, services, programs, and RushFest plans (including the scavenger hunt), just stop in or call 765-932-3496 or send an email to rpl@rpl.lib.in.us.
