RUSHVILLE — It won’t be long before most Rush County parents will need to get their children registered for school.
Superintendent of schools Dr. John Williams said recently that it is imperative parents register their children for classes in advance and that they don’t wait until the first day of classes to do so.
To make things a little easier on everyone, all the Rush County Schools elementaries will have registration from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 24; from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25; and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, July 26.
All kindergartens will have Open House at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. Only Kindergarten students will attend school Tuesday, Aug. 6. Students grades 1 to 6 will begin school Wednesday, Aug. 7 and grades K to 6 will all attend Thursday, Aug. 8.
Registration forms are available on the Rush County Schools website at rcs.rushville.k12.in.us.
Parents registering their child for the first time in Rush County Schools must bring the child’s official birth certificate, current shot records, the child’s Social Security number, and any current custody papers with them to registration. All parents are asked to bring a utility bill verifying the name and current address of the legal guardian.
Registration for Benjamin Rush Middle School will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 31.
Orientation will be at 5:30 p.m. for seventh-grade students and new students to BRMS. Also, registration will be from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 1.
The first student day at BRMS is Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Open House at BRMS will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. You’ll have a chance to follow your child’s schedule to meet their teachers. Also, you can visit a Book Fair in the Media Center during Open House. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria.
