5K run/walk to benefit Autism Awareness

Register by Monday for T-shirt

RUSHVILLE — Rushville Mayor Mike Pavey will host a 5K run/walk to benefit charitable organizations. The inaugural event will start at 8:30 a.m. April 27 at Riverside Park Amphitheater.

Since the 1970s, April has been designated Autism Awareness Month. That is why this initial event will benefit the ARC of Rush County and the Alex Workman Memorial Fund.

The event will also serve to educate the public on autism issues.

The 3.1 mile event will begin and end at Riverside Park Amphitheater and make a loop through city streets and South Veterans Memorial Park before returning to RPA.

Registration forms are currently available for download on the city web site (www.cityofrushville.in.com) or by contacting Rushville Chief of Police Craig Tucker at the RPD (765-932-3907).

Late registration will be available the day of event beginning at 7:45 a.m. and continue until the 8:30 start.

Awards will be given to the top five finishers in a number of divisions: male runner 18 and older, male runner 17 and under, female runner 18 and older, female runner 17 and under, male and female walkers 18 and older and 17 and under.

Entry fees for 18 and older with a T-shirt are $15; without a shirt $10; and $10 for those under that age of 17.

Businesses or individuals interested in assisting with sponsoring the event can contact City Hall or Chief Tucker for additional information.
