RUSHVILLE — A 911 call was received at the Rush County Sheriff’s Department shortly after 10 a,m. Thursday reporting a property damage accident on CR 900N near Mays.

The caller advised that he struck a utility pole after leaving the rural road.

Responding units found the driver, Adam Christopher Reveal, 29, of Anderson outside his 2008 Chevrolet box delivery truck looking over the path of travel his vehicle took after leaving the road and traveling nearly 300 yards in a soggy and recently combined corn field. Reveal narrowly missing a church sign before hitting a Duke Energy power pole.

Reveal told Indiana State Police trooper Mike Ooley he was forced to take evasive action to avoid striking a westbound pickup truck.

“I was traveling east when a black truck passed going west. I pulled to the right to avoid striking him and just got off on the shoulder of the road, The soft ground just pulled me in,” the Anderson man said.

The force of the impact caused extensive damage to the driver’s side and cab of the Chevrolet and severed the pole nearly six feet from the ground, leaving charged electric lines hanging.

Reveal said the driver of the black truck did not stop and he was unable to give investigators a license plate number or any other information regarding the westbound vehicle.

Although shaken, Reveal was otherwise uninjured and refused medical attention.
