Efforts are currently underway to expand pediatric care and capabilities at Rush Memorial Hospital.
The effort, known as Kedo’s Kids, is gaining momentum thanks to the efforts of Rushville parents Teresa and Greg Alexander and others.
The Alexanders, along with Tom and Edna Moster, serve as co-chairs of a fundraising effort currently underway to raise not only awareness for the state-of-the-art facility planned for Conrad Harcourt Way, but also necessary monies to complete the project.
“As parents ourselves who take our children to the [current] RMH pediatric facility, I think it is important to pay it forward and help the community at the same time. After all, not only are we raising our family here, we are raising the future of Rushville and Rush County,” Theresa Alexander said recently.
The current pediatric facility at RMH is a small modular building located on the RMH campus and saw 4,000 patient visits during 2011 with the limited space and resources available.
The planned 3,000 square foot facility will be located at 1339 North Cherry Street (just south of Conrad Harcourt Way). It is expected to open later this year.
Once completed, the new facility will house four exam rooms and two separate waiting areas for both children and adolescents; the building will also house a medicine room, nurse’s station and Dr. Kedo’s office.
The project comes with an estimated price tag of $670,000.
Being very community oriented, the Alexanders are glad to be a part of a solution to providing even better health care to Rush County children through the Kedo’s Kids project.
“The new facility is taking shape, and once completed it will provide a nice and comfortable environment for the kids,” Alexander said.
She continued by saying that anyone who is able to financially assist is encouraged to step up now.
