---- — The recent stretch of sub-freezing weather did not deter the Rushville Common Council from holding their first meeting of the year, Tuesday night in the council chambers.

Faced with a brief agenda, mayor Mike Pavey and board members made their respective appointments to various board for 2014: Alcohol Beverage Board, David Payne; Rushville City Parks Board, Atty. David Malson; Re-development Board, Bill Herdrich, Mark Hass and Ron Lienemann; Area Plan Commission Joe Ratz; ECDC Board Bob Bridges; Solid Waste Board, Brian Sheehan; Fiber Optic Board, Craig Smith; and the redevelopment commission John McCane and John Pavey.

In other matters, council member approved city ordinance 2014-01 to amend salaries for city employees. During an earlier meeting members approved a one (1) percent pay raise across the board for city employees in 2014.

Members also passed transfer resolution 2014-2 regarding the city’s “Rainy Day Fund” in regards to the transfer of monies from the city’s annual 2013 budget. As a result of the ordinance, city officials can transfer no more than 10 percent of any monies remaining from the previous year budget into the emergency fund. As a result, $50,000 was transferred to the Rainy Day Fund.
