---- — In keeping with the American Disabilities Act (ADA), local officials are nearing completion of inspections of all city owned properties. During the final city council meeting of 2013, mayor Mike Pavey told city council members that the final report on the properties is expected during a January meeting for board approval.

The ADA was signed into legislation in 2008 and took effect Jan. 1, 2009 and prohibits discrimination regarding employment of individuals with a disability.

In other matters, Pavey said that he and other members of the city council will form a committee as a means to develop a retention program regarding officers of the Rushville Police Department. The mayor cited personnel turnover within the department in recent years, the cost of training officers at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and the reduction of officers protecting the citizens of Rushville. The matter will be addressed during future meetings.
