The Rush County School Board held its monthly meeting Dec. 3 and was called to order by board president Paul Barada.
Rushville Consolidated High School student and FFA president Becca Riggs thanked board members for their support. The FFA has been very busy with its annual holiday fruit sale and in appreciation, members of the FFA presented each board member with fruit and a wish of “Happy Holidays.”
Carolyn Bunzendahl of Rush County ECDC (Client Services Manager) presented information on Rush County seeking designation an ACT county. This is a program that stresses work ready skills. The ACT Company has developed a test called “Workkeys” which measures math, communication and information seeking skills that have been identified as needed skills for success in the work place. According to Bunzendahl, the designation will be an asset in attracting various work forces to the Rush County community.
In an unrelated matter, board members voted Attorney John Worth to continue as corporation attorney.
The Board also voted to keep the districts the same for election of members. Precincts 1, 2 and 3 will continue to make up School Board District 6 and Precincts 4, 5 and 6 will make up School Board District 7. The vote was 4-3 in favor.
The next meeting of the Rush County School Board is at 7 p.m. Jan. 14, 2014 in the Board Room at the Administration Center located at 330 West 8th Street, Rushville.
