The 10-day celebration marking the 200th anniversary of the founding of Connersville begins today.
The Bicentennial opens with a flag raising ceremony at 8 a.m. at the downtown City Hall parking lot.
Friday events include the dignitaries luncheon from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Roberts Building, Roberts Park; opening ceremonies, 6 to 7 p.m. on the Canal House porch, 111 East Fourth Street; music on the square featuring the Van Dells at 7 p.m. on the city parking lot downtown; and a laser light show at 10 p.m. on the city parking lot downtown.
Coming up Saturday is the Little Detroit Grand Prix go cart racing, which starts at 7 a.m. and runs all day downtown; Optimist 5K Run at 8 a.m.; antique auto scenic tour from 9 a.m. at the Longwood Bridge at Roberts Park; and 50-year vow renewal at 1:30 p.m. at the Longwood Bridge.
