RUSHVILLE — The Indiana Department of Transportation will close a 3-mile section of U.S. Highway 52 between Rushville and New Salem next Monday, April 29, for a $1.3 million Greenfield District bridge project involving removal and replacement of three drainage structures.

Work includes:

Bridge replacement 2.98 miles east of S.R. 3. Milestone, the state’s contractor, will set a 55-foot-long precast concrete 3-sided structure at a drainage ditch site.

Culvert replacement 5.48 miles east of S.R. 3. The contractor will place an 8 X 7-foot box culvert—70-feet-long—at a small tributary feeding Little Flat Rock River.

Bridge replacement 5.87 miles east of S.R. 3. The contractor will set a 55-foot-long precast concrete 3-sided structure at a drainage ditch site.

INDOT’s official detour utilizes State Road 3 and S.R. 244 to circumvent U.S. 52 construction.

Demolition of the structures should begin later next week. Contract completion date is Nov. 15.
