The Indiana Department of Transportation has awarded $1,897,200 to Milestone Contractors of Columbus for Phase II of the 16th Street Extension Project in Rushville.
Extending 16th Street to Spencer Street is a Local Public Agency project planned and partially paid for by the city.
The Federal Highway Administration provides 80 percent of the funding for LPA projects. The local agency (City of Rushville) is responsible for 20 percent in matching funds.
INDOT administers FHWA monies and assures compliance with federal standards.
Milestone’s was the lowest of eight bids submitted for the three-quarter mile construction of new roadway to extend 16th Street west to Spencer Street, which eventually becomes Rushville Road.
