A rollover accident on CR 800E north of Falmouth was reported shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The caller advised that the driver was injured after the 1989 Chevrolet truck she was driving struck a tree stump and rolled prior to coming to rest upright in a nearby field.
Volunteer responders from Raleigh and Glenwood were dispatched to the 7400 block of North CR 800E as was the Rush County Sheriff’s Department and RMH Ambulance.
Investigating officer Duane Raab of the RCSD said Dawn April Russell, 37, of Cambridge City, was southbound when for unknown reasons she lost control of her vehicle.
“At this point of the investigation I am unsure if she left the west side of the road and in her attempt to regain control of her vehicle simply over-corrected or not,” Raab said.
Skid marks indicated that Russell’s vehicle did leave the east side of the county road before crossing back into the southbound lane, leaving the road and striking a glancing blow to a tree stump.
The vehicle rolled one complete time before coming to rest upright on all four tires.
Raleigh medical personnel removed the driver from the vehicle and transported her to Rush Memorial Hospital for unspecified injuries.
Dahl Petry of the RCSD said that as a result of the violent nature of the collision with the tree stump and rollover, it was a good thing the driver was wearing her seatbelt because it kept her inside the vehicle.
The full extent of Russell’s injuries remained unknown at press time.
