With three meetings remaining this year, Rush County Commissioners Tom Barnes, Marvin Cole and Ken Masters met Monday and handled a variety of issues.
Acting on a request from Anderson Township Trustee Karen Jenkins and others in the community of Milroy, the county leaders requested that the Indiana State Board of Accounts conduct an audit of the Milroy EMS books.
According to the county leaders, previous requests to the medical transport organization have been made in recent years but the commissioners did not receive the information they requested.
According to Barnes, the formal request to the ISBA had to be done by the commissioners; the county leaders voted unanimously this week to make that formal request.
In other matters, the commissioners voted to make changes to the contract regarding the county-owned farm. All future contracts will include a clause that forbids hunting or trapping on the property. According to Barnes, violations of the new ordinance will lead to voiding the contract.
The county leaders also agreed to a contract with Harvest Land to provide fuel for the county highway and sheriff departments.
The county agreed for the RCHD to pay $248.5 per gallon for unleaded fuel during 2010, a price that reflects a decrease in the per gallon price paid during 2009.
During the coming year, the highway department will pay $2.54.3 for diesel fuel, a price that reflects a drop from 2009 pricing.
The RCSD will pay $2.39.9 per gallon for unleaded gasoline, also a decrease compared to 2009 pricing.
Sitton also recommended that bids be accepted for other supplies from various vendors, a recommendation also agreed to by the county leaders.
