Fall property tax deadline reminder
For the Republican
Rush County Treasurer Mary Ann Beard reminds Rush County taxpayers that it is time to find those fall tax bills.
The fall statement, or “B” copy, is needed for your fall payment.
Lost bills may be duplicated in the treasurer’s office. All payments received after Nov. 10 will receive a 5 percent penalty for the first 30 days and a 10 percent penalty after 30 days.
The treasurer’s office is available to receive your payments from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is located on the second floor of the Rush County Courthouse.
All checks should be made payable to the Rush County Treasurer.
All taxpayers are welcome to pay their taxes at MainSource bank downtown, the Foster Heights branch, and the Knightstown branch.
When paying by mail please include only the “treasurers’ copy” of your statement. You must keep the taxpayers copy for your receipt.
The treasurer’s office will not be returning paid receipts. Do not include self-addressed envelopes. Allow sufficient time for mailing. All payments must be postmarked by Nov. 10.
Credit card payments may be made on-line at www.officialpayments.com or by calling 1-800-272-9829 using jurisdiction code 2432.
There is a 3 percent fee charged for this service. No credit card payments may be accepted in the treasurer’s office or at MainSource bank.
This is also a great time to check your tax exemptions.
Have you moved recently, refinanced and have a new mortgage; or have you turned 65 this year? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be eligible to receive a tax exemption.
The treasurer may be reached at 932-2386 or at treasurer@rushcounty.in.gov.
