The NACO prescription drug program, which is available in Rush County, provides financial assistance to people who do not have heath care insurance and/or prescription coverage.
The plan is free, with no age or income limits.
“It’s a drug discount program,” Rush County Treasurer Mary Ann Beard said. “Residents simply pick up a card at any Rush County pharmacy and use that card for their family. No forms, no questions, no identification.”
There is an average savings of 20 percent for those using the card when purchasing prescription medicines.
“Nearly 900 people in Rush County are using the card with a savings of close to $8,000 monthly. Since the onset of the program in late 2006, Rush County residents have saved $136,213.94,” Beard said.
“This is provided free of charge to Rush County by the Rush County Commissioners and the Rush County Council through membership in the National Association of Indiana Counties,” she continued.
Anyone with question about the program may call Beard at 765-932-2386.
