Street Superintendent injured in motorcycle accident

— Rushville City Street Superintendent Danny Hoover was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Wednesday. A recreational ride landed Hoover on an air ambulance for a ride to an Indianapolis trauma center.
Investigating officer deputy Josh Brinson of the Rush County Sheriff’s Department said that Hoover was westbound in the 2500 block of East Gings Road when he lost control of his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
“Early indications are that he left the north side of the county road and in an attempt to return to the road he overcorrected and went off the south side of the rural road,” Brinson said.
Hoover was dislodged from his motorcycle and sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.
It was initially believed that Hoover, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, sustained a arm or shoulder injury and contusions and abrasions. Following treatment at the scene by medical personnel from RMH Ambulance he was transported to Rush Memorial Hospital and a short time later to Wishard Hospital’s trauma center in Indianapolis.
It was learned Thursday that Hoover suffered an unspecified neck injury as well as the aforementioned shoulder injury and a rib injury.
