INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Eight new swine flu cases in central Indiana and four in northwestern Indiana have raised the state’s total number of people confirmed with the virus to 132.
The Indiana State Department of Health said Wednesday that six of the new illnesses were in Marion County, two in neighboring Hamilton County, along with three in Lake County and one in Porter County of northwestern Indiana.
Six people with the virus have been hospitalized in Indiana and released. The virus has not been blamed for any Indiana deaths.
Across the nation, most people getting the illness have been young. Two-thirds of Indiana’s swine flu cases have been in people between the ages of 5 and 24.
