Angela Poore of Rushville has announced her candidacy for Rush County Clerk on the Democrat ballot.

She is seeking the position of county clerk because she is proud of Rush County and wishes to be part of its growth. She wants to help bring new ideas to the office with respect, empathy and compassion for the citizens of Rush County by using the skills she has obtained while in the employment of Dr. John Miller, Henry County Health Department, New Castle State Developmental Center and the Rush County Schools system.

She is a licensed substitute teacher and substitutes in the Shelby County school system.

Poore is the wife of Floyd Poore and mother of four, Tyson, Samantha, Jacob and Rusty. She was raised in Carthage by her parents, the late James D. Gorman and Diana Aurs.

A graduate of Knightstown High School, she majored in business, health occupations and arts. She earned a degree in Developmental Skills from the New Castle State Developmental Center through Ivy Tech Community College, Muncie. She currently is attending Ivy Tech Community College, Richmond in the MEA program where she soon will receive her degree as a phlebotomist and laboratory technician. She will continue her education to receive an associate degree in Forensic Science and interpersonal relations.

Poore is an active member of the Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater Committee. She attends East Street Christian Church in Carthage. She and her husband are current foster parents. She has volunteered with the American Red Cross, Henry County Planned Parenthood, Rushville Cub Scouts and Foster Care Plus.

She enjoys being with her family, watching and helping with their many activities. She also enjoys helping others as well as walking.
