Published April 21, 2008 09:51 am - In recent years the American Cancer Society’s signature event, Relay for Life, has been embraced locally by nearly the entire community. The 24-hour event will again this year be held during Father’s Day Weekend in South Veterans Memorial Park.

In recent years the American Cancer Society’s signature event, Relay for Life, has been embraced locally by nearly the entire community. The 24-hour event will again this year be held during Father’s Day Weekend in South Veterans Memorial Park.
This year’s trio of co-chairs — Aimee Bowles, Michele Gettinger and Mike Ooley — recently released a partial schedule of approaching team events.
Saturday
9 a.m. to noon, Carthage Community Center, 6 block of North Main Street, Carthage - Sharon’s Stars of Hope will host a Carthage Lions Club breakfast and bake sale.
6 p.m., St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 426 North Morgan Street, Rushville - Holy Strollers will host a roast chicken breast benefit dinner with all the trimmings. Tickets are limited and can be obtained by calling (765) 932-4652 or (765) 932-5680.
6:30 p.m., Knights of Columbus, 227 East Third Street, Rushville – The Cure Crusaders will host a euchre tournament. Cost is $5 per participant and will include door prizes. Participants are still being sought for the event.
May 3
8 a.m. to noon, behind the Rush County Sheriff’s Department garage, 131 East First Street, Rushville - Stella’s Star Cruisers will host a car wash. Free-will donation accepted.
May 4
6 a.. to close, OCC (Ooley’s Cancer Crushers) will wait tables at the Park Restaurant, 1015 North Jackson Street, Rushville. All tips generated going to the ACS.
May 10
8 p.m. to 1 a.m., Knights of Columbus, 227 East Third Street, Rushville - Sam’s Supporters will host “And Then He Kissed Me,” an adult prom. Admission $10 single and $15 couple.
May 16
Rushville Church of Christ, 627 West 11th Street, Rushville - The Walk of Love Team will host a gospel sing. A free-will offering will be taken.
