A report of a trailer fire shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday sent volunteer units from Waldron and Manilla to the Allen Gahimer residence, 7037 South CR 900W.
Responders found a fully engulfed mobile home and two vehicles parked near the burning structure.
Initially it was unknown if Gahimer currently lived in the residence or whether or not he was home when the fire was reported.
As a precautionary measure, for both firefighters and the possibility that the property owner may have been inside the residence, medical personnel from RMH Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
It was learned a short time later, following contact with family members, that Gahimer no longer lived at the rural residence.
No cause was known or given for the blaze that kept firefighters at the scene for nearly two hours.
Responding to the fire were unite from the Manilla Volunteer Fire department, Waldron Volunteer Fire Department, Rush County Sheriff’s Department and RMH Ambulance.
This matter is still under investigation.
