Ind. authorities want to know who leaked documents

Associated Press

NEW CASTLE (AP) - Indiana State Police are trying to find out who leaked documents to the media related to an internal investigation at the Henry County Sheriff's Department.

The documents are transcripts of interviews from September, when an off-duty sheriff's deputy crashed his truck into a house. Deputy Guadalupe "Wally" Trevino was later arrested on charges of drunken driving and criminal recklessness and faces internal discipline. He did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

The documents obtained by The Star Press of Muncie and The Courier-Times of New Castle show that two other off-duty officers were out drinking with Trevino that night.

Henry County Prosecutor Kit Crane said Tuesday that the leak could be theft, or official misconduct if a public employee was involved.
