All should vote
31.62 percent of Rush County’s registered voters turned out for this year’s primary county election. This is an appalling disgrace and totally unacceptable. The lack of concern and loyalty for those who worked so hard to campaign for their respective office brings shame upon us.
Voting is not only a privilege, but a duty. Thousands of American soldiers have paid the supreme sacrifice defending our God-given freedoms, and unfortunately there are not enough people who care enough to use that sacred privilege. How sad!
I personally consider voting in any election an honor and of highest priority.
Two members of our family died in World War II fighting for the preservation of our rights. Charles and Cecil Lanning, brothers, died within six weeks of each other defending our freedoms. Every time I vote, I think of them and vote in their honor, thanking them and the countless others who either gave their lives or served defending our nation.
So what if it was an “off year” election. It is no excuse to not vote!
Every time the polls are open, regardless of what kind of election it is, everyone who is eligible to vote should do so.
If you did not vote, I say, “shame on you.”
Please honor our nation by using your right to vote in the next election coming up in November. You never know when that freedom could be taken from us.
Whatever happened to Thank You?
